I start work today and therefore the commute. It won’t last long but I’m thankful to be doing this again.

Seven years

Some things need to be marked. I wrote about this a bit three years ago and as is the nature of these things, easier to live with than it was, but most of what I wrote still stands.

God, I miss that man.

Sunday Music

It’s the first Sunday of Advent. So an advent carol seems appropriate.

This is an advent carol, not a Christmas carol. Technically, you shouldn’t be singing Christmas carols until Christmas Eve at Midnight Mass. (I know, I’m old fashioned about this, deal with it!!)

Advent always kicked off for me with the hymn Emmanuel. It was always the opening hymn on the first Sunday of Advent and one of my father’s favourite hymns. This confused me when I was little because my dad was called Noel so I always thought that The First Nowell was about him and thought that this should be his favourite hymn!

Anyway this is best version that You Tube provided, even though the first line is wrong. It’s ‘ransom captive Israel’ not ‘redeem captive Israel’. However, I’m used to the difference between Catholic and Protestant hymns and English and American. I’m also curious about the time when each town and village had it’s own words or tunes for various carols. Last seen pre-Queen Victoria…

The Pyramid Circuit

I’m halfway through bootcamp and despite the mud, I’m beginning to look forward to it! Ok my knees have completely given up on me so I can’t do so much of the running and jumping but I can see change happening and muscles starting to do their job.

Jem has given us homework this week. A pyramid circuit, he’s given us lots of pyramid circuits during the bootcamp sessions, so it was only a matter of time before we got them as homework.  It’s challenging, but I did it. Anyone want to try it? Details below…

4 x 5 exercises, pyramid circuit, 40 seconds work / 20 seconds rest

1 = Squats or Squat Jumps

2 = Press Ups

3 = Side Plank – Right arm

4 = Lunges

5 = Side Plank – Left arm

Sequence

Walking across the bridge to the theatre, my favourite view. Thankful to live in (Boris Johnson aside) the best city in the world. Yes I’m biased but I can’t help it, London is amazing!!
