This has caused great hilarity with friends of mine deciding to hide the knowledge of it from their husbands.

UK accuses Israeli ‘terrorists’ of ethnic cleansing in West Bank with government backing. It shouldn’t be an accusation, it’s a statement of fact. I’m glad we’re doing it but honestly, we should be doing more. I would like anyone with a UK passport living in a settlement in the West Bank to have their passport removed. If we do to muslim terrorists, we should do it to Israeli ones.

Israeli ministers keep telling everyone their brutal plans – so why doesn’t the world take them seriously? This. I firmly believe that the Israeli government are terrorists as much as the Iranian government is.

I am sending the assisted dying bill back to the Lords – and this time, peers must do the right thing. The Lords are an unelected body and really need to get back in their box. I support assisted dying and the argument about the lack of decent care is a consideration but the response is to make decent care available, even with the most amazing care available, my mum would want the option (this Bill wouldn’t help because she would be judged to lack capacity but as soon as she was diagnosed, she booked an appointment with the GP to have the discussion about DNR and wanting all her treatment from then on to be palliative – I was in bits, but she was very clear!)

It’s time for a Gardeners’ World that reflects Britain’s gardens in all their messy, realistic chaos For the record, I’m not a massive Gardeners’ World watcher but I really like Monty Don and I think some of the criticism of him has been a bit mean. However, I can never get the memory of him talking about being broke and having no money but going to a tree sale and getting an overdraft for £20,000 for trees. I love looking at his garden, but that garden doesn’t at all reflect my reality of gardening. In terms of location, money, time and help. I think that’s generally right, take the advice that works for you, admire what others do, but don’t compare your garden to others, just love what you have and if you don’t love it, the joy of gardening is that you can change it!
