Monday Miscellany: Light at the End of the Tunnel

Happy Monday!

  • The last three weeks have been brutal. Yes, partly the heat which has settled into high 20’s this week but also being really busy in all areas of my life. Last week was the first week I felt that I was a bit more in control.
  • Part of that has been that I’ve had some social interaction too. This week that was a walk with Sue on Friday and some plot time and dinner at Jo’s on Saturday night!
  • I did not watch the England vs. France game on Saturday and I’m beginning to think I’m the problem, every time I don’t watch we play well. I don’t need to think about it until the Euros. But I’m glad that of the two teams in the final the Spanish won.
  • While I’ve been on HRT for about six years and at 52 should be in menopause, I still very much have a cycle and I still have migraines, they really do seem to have settled into a pattern and it’s towards the end of the month. I stop being able to sleep, maybe do too much and after a couple of days of that state of affairs, hello migraine. I’m in that time and I had a migraine on Sunday morning. They don’t seem to be day long affairs and sometimes are just visual issues but I would really like to be done with them and this week is not a good time.
  • In just over two weeks, it’s my birthday. Which means in three weeks, I’ll be older than my father ever was. I remember Ma being twitchy at 49 and Dad at 50, the ages their parents were when they died and thought it was odd. Now I get it. 2026/27 is my year of being twitchy about mortality.
  • It’s the summer holidays, schools broke up last week and the buses are much faster. It’s a small thing but it makes me happy.
