Monday Miscellany: Long Time Gone

Happy Monday!

Yes it’s been a while, I’m sure everyone has been on the edge of the seats waiting for a blog post (not!) but here we are and here are five things….

  • The end of 2025 and beginning of 2026 were tough. Mum is as well as can be expected but PSP is what it is and she’s not going to get ‘better’ or need less help. We’re doing ok but I’m honestly struggling with being the person that has to think of everything, Mum has always been that person and frankly she’s much better at it! The swap has and continues to be, an adjustment for both of us, as ever Mum leads the way and I grumble along resistant to the change.
  • I don’t know if I’m back to blogging more or not, there are a lot of moving parts to my life at the minute, I want to be a person that can do all the things but I don’t think it’s possible and I have to prioritise Ma, work and my health (physical and mental), that we are now in the part of the year where we are currently getting 15 ish hours of daylight is helping immensely but that won’t last and the priority has to be the things that keep us all alive.
  • Speaking of which, over the winter, I learnt that badgers don’t hibernate, they have something called winter lethargy, where they sleep a lot, eat stored food and stay inside more. I think I need to come back as a badger, when I mentioned this Mum pointed out that my greys are coming in quite badger like, PSP or not, she’s still herself.
  • It feels remiss not to mention that the world is in no better state than it was in 2025 and in some cases actively worse. I have much more sympathy for my great grandparents living through the 1920’s and 30’s than I ever did.
  • Yesterday I replaced the cover on the polytunnel by myself, I’m headed into the week feeling very ‘this girl can’
