Christmas Baking

Last week, I sat down and started to think about Christmas Baking. This falls into two categories what I’m cooking for home and what I’m cooking to give away. Fortunately there is an overlap so it’s not too strenuous. The list is full of favourites, this Christmas is not the time to try new stuff, I need recipes that I’m confident baking, I don’t want to spend too much time on my foot!

So this is what’s on the list.

Gingerbread cakes. This is such an easy recipe and works just as well in little cakes as it does in a loaf. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like these.

Cheese Stars. Most requested snack food ever, of course they don’t have to be stars, I may experiment with other Christmas shapes! The great thing about these is that you can make them up and then freeze the dough for when you need it. It’s also nice to make something savoury because by Christmas, we’ve all overdone the sweet stuff…IMG_2544

Mince PiesDSCF3915which means making mincemeat. Proper mince pies are amazing, for those of you that have only eaten commercial mince pies, please try these. You will be ruined for anything else!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Lemon Snowdrop Cookies from Wholefully this photo does not do them justice, they are really good, trust me on this. Also if you sign up for Cassie’s mailing list she’ll send you an e-book of cookie recipes which might just be the thing if you are still searching for the killer Christmas cookie to bake this year!IMG_2560
